The Upland Almanac is under new ownership.

The Upland Almanac is under new ownership.

With this purchase, three generations of our family will be contributing to The Upland Almanac. My children and I are following in the footsteps of my father, Ernie Foster, Jr., who has been writing the “Classic Upland Guns” column since back in the days when the magazine was called The Grouse Point Almanac. We promise our team will bring the same level of energy, passion and open-mindedness to the magazine as he does.

Hunting is a wholesome and positive pastime for our family, and I have done my best to ensure that we never lose our appreciation for the outdoors and the importance of being good stewards of the resources that we've inherited. My personal efforts toward that end include serving on the Massachusetts Fish and Game Board as well as my support of and volunteering for groups such the National Skeet Shooting Association, National Sporting Clays Association, Ducks Unlimited, Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society, Pheasants Forever, Southeast Mass Trout Unlimited and Mass Bow Hunters.

Our mission is to expand The Upland Almanac brand beyond the magazine; to build an innovative, authentic outdoors voice; to champion wildlife and habitat conservation measures as well as mentoring programs; and to encourage people — youngsters, seniors, old hands or novices — to participate in and promote the traditions of upland bird hunting.

We hope to earn your respect and continued support as we move toward fulfilling that mission.

Come along and help us grow!

Oh, and for the record: I have always believed that the best way to introduce a new person to hunting has been behind a good bird dog!

Thank you in advance for your support of our new venture.

Ernie Foster, IV
