On October 12, beginning at 10:12 am, a team of 5 shotgunners began their attempt to break the current Guinness Book of World Record for the most clay targets broken in a 12 hour period by a 5 person team which stood at 4,602.
Dave Miller, Shotgun Product and Special Events Manager for CZ USA, came up with the idea to create a team of himself and 4 Junior shooters selected from across the country based on an essay and participation in a A.I.M. or SCTP competitive shotgun qualifying event.
The young shotgunners were Levi Henrichs age 19 from Sibley Iowa, Makayla Scott age 16 from White Sulphur Springs West Virginia, Jessica Strasser age 17 from Waterford Wisconsin and Weston Zolck age 19 from Herman Nebraska.
Using the new CZ 1012 shotguns, the team surpassed the old record of 4,602 just after the 4 hour mark, but continued with grit and determination into the night in order to set the record bar high. One bold prediction from the team stated they would break over 13,000.
At 10;12 pm the New Guinness Book of World Records was completed at 14,167 targets broken in a 12 hour period by a 5 person team.
This event was about 1012, but more about these young
shooters who are now Guinness Book of World Record holders, being excellent
role models and the inspiration for future generations of shotgunners.
