Hunting with a Friend

Dave Books has spent a happy lifetime hunting the high plains of Montana and other Western and Midwestern haunts with a succession of Brittanys and Labrador retrievers. He’s knocked on a few doors along the way and made friends doing it. His book Wingbeats and Heartbeats: Essays on Game Birds, Gun Dogs, and Days Afield (University of Wisconsin Press) highlights a great many of those adventures.
